#WhyIBlog Intervista a Joe Caiati
Present yourself. Name, Job, URL and platform used.
My name is Joe Caiati. I work as a Apple Certified Technician in New York City. I write at http://joecaiati.info and use my iPad primarily for creating my posts.
Why do you blog?
I love to blog for two reasons. First, I believe I add value to the ongoing dialogue whether that's on tech, film, TV, or on blogging. When I came to the realization that I enjoyed writing and offering up my opinion, I started a blog in 2011. Second, now that I am blogging, I love that I now have, essentially, a journal that I can revisit whenever I'd like to read about what I was interested in at the time. I also enjoy seeing how my writing has improved yearly.
What does it mean to open a blog in 2014
In 2014, it's easier than ever to open a blog. If you are interested in writing, I would not be intimidated by the large amount of blogs that are already out there. Services like Squarespace, Wordpress, and Tumblr make it very simple to sign up and just start posting. What has changed, now, is blogging for a living. With the barrier to entry so low, discovery can be a challenge, but if you are dedicated and consistent, you will be heard.
Did it help you to develop your job and your network?
When sharing my posts and following other independent writers, I've made some great relationships over services like Twitter. I've been fortunate enough to have bloggers, with bigger followers than I had, share my posts. This didn't happen overnight. I had to improve my writing, but I continued and continue to improve my writing.
One blog my readers shouldn't miss?
Design Taxi (http://designtaxi.com) is a blog that I discovered a couple of years ago and I find so many great things on there.
